* Were you able to think clearly and quickly in order to respond appropriately to your situation and proximity?
* Last question - do you have a fire plan?
Whether you do or not, feel free to look through the Fire Plan below (by one of our church families) and see where it might help you think through your own. Copy and paste, edit and add - make it your own!
Living in the hills is so great, but this is an annual reality we face!

SAMPLE FIRE PLAN

AS SOON AS YOU HEAR FIRE IS NEAR
Prepare the GO BOX with:
* first aid kit
* batteries
* radio (can be more reliable than app on phone)
* torches
* bottled water
* special knick knacks
FIRST PRIORITY
* Keys - House / Garage/Sheds/Cars/Bikes/Van
* Phone & Charger
* Wallet / Purse (Licenses)
* Locate/contain pets and carriers/leads
* Medications
* Gather Important documents and/or clear out Safe - (Birth certs, important papers, cash.)
* Photos - Albums, Frames & boxes/USBs?)
* Personal - Clothes, Toiletries, Scripts
* Electronics - PC (box only); Laptop/Charger
SECOND PRIORITY
* Food & Water bottles
THIRD PRIORITY
* Protective Clothing/Boots
* Protective Blankets
* Pillows/Doona
* Towels
FOURTH PRIORITY
* Hook up Caravan
* Tool Box/kit
* Generator
* Jerry can
OTHER Jobs for IF THERE IS TIME
INSIDE THE HOUSE
* Turn off air con
* Put cover over Air Con
* Fill containers/basins / bath with water.
* Soak towels and rugs in water and lay alongside of external doorways
* Take down curtains and move furniture from windows
* Ladder and torch close to manhole to check for embers
OUTSIDE THE HOUSE
* Start Retic System
* Start gutter sprinklers
* Bring all loose burnable material inside
* Wet down side of house and garden that faces the fire front
* Block down-pipes and fill gutters with water
* Turn off gas supply
* Get Containers of water
* Make sure all vehicles are fueled.
